Overview
HyperLayer provides payment orchestration and whitelabel solutions to major financial institutions. As Principal Product Designer, my brief is to build one reference mobile app and web dashboard, then spin off dozens of branded variations for different clients.
Much of the core app functionality is based on features from HyperJar, a subsidiary of HyperLayer. HyperJar is a consumer-facing money management app that has already proven successful in the market. My challenge is to extract and modularize these proven features into a flexible design system that can be rapidly customized for enterprise clients.

In practice, this means creating design systems for both mobile (Flutter) and web (React/shadcn) that maintain visual consistency across platforms, respect platform conventions, and enable rapid whitelabel spinoffs.

Principles I'm Applying
Living documentation beats static specs.
Widgetbook and Storybook are the shared language between design and engineering. I take an active role in maintaining these bridges curating component libraries, documenting usage patterns, and ensuring both design and engineering teams use the same components.
Semantic abstraction scales, literal values don't.
I'm using primitive-to-component token mapping so the team thinks about hierarchy and meaning, not memorizing values.
Zero-to-one requires encoding principles before discovering problems.
Working without production data means encoding best practices from first principles and building flexibility for problems I haven't encountered yet.
